Tips for Traveling with Supplements
By Hailey Pryor
Having traveled to over 110 countries in the past three years with nothing but a carry-on suitcase, I’ve nailed it down when it comes to the travel essentials I need to keep my immunity high while my body is working through the environmental and dietary changes I’ve encountered.
If you plan to travel in the near future, whether for business or pleasure, thoughtful planning is essential to be sure you have everything you’ll need to stay healthy and be prepared. I’ve used Life Priority supplements for years, and V-Guard 2™ and Lifeshield™ are my daily must haves, if nothing else. In order to combat the jet lag (or any hangovers) the Lift Caps™ are truly a miracle. Being in a new hotel every five or so days, I’ve also found that closing out my evening with Calcium Priority™ and Magnesium Priority™ helps my body relax and drift off to sleep easily.
Themes to carry forward
Core routine
Bring what you already trust
A trip is not the best time to experiment with a large new stack. Pack the products you already use and understand.
Disruption
Plan for the parts travel reliably disturbs
Jet lag, hotel sleep, airport food, hydration, and long sitting are predictable. Build your kit around those realities.
Visibility
If it disappears in the bag, it disappears from the routine
Use a small organizer or labeled packets so your routine is obvious when you are tired, rushed, or off schedule.
If I had more luggage space, I’d love to be taking more than these vitamins daily. If you choose to travel with more than a carry-on suitcase, next up on the Life Priority’s supplement list would be Vitamin D3 Priority™, Omega-3 Priority™, and Mind™.
Ten Tips for Traveling with Supplements
- Pack the supplements that will help you stay healthy while you are away.
- If space is limited, focus on stay-well supplements supporting digestive, sleep and immune health.
- Pack probiotics for gut health for your gastrointestinal health to help with change of diet and delicacies you may indulge in while you’re away. I use probiotic and digestive enzymes when I am anticipating an experimental meal!
- Protect your immune system with Vitamins C and D and zinc for immune support. My must haves are V-Guard 2™ and Lifeshield™. V-Guard 2™ helps my immune system while the Lifeshield™ provides me with the nutrients I might not otherwise be getting in my meals.
- Follow your sleep regimen and pack sleep-friendly supplements to insure quality sleep. Calcium and Magnesium combined is my secret sauce!
- When packing powder supplements, pour into a heavy-duty resealable bag and label to expedite airport security. I’ve only had trouble with this in South America, and showing them a picture of the bottles in my cabinet at home helps persuade them that it’s really only vitamins and supplements.
- Pack supplements in your carry-on luggageand seal tightly.
- Use climate-friendly packaging when packing: liquids, powders and gummies can be more vulnerable to heat than capsules and tablets. Consider switching to a solid supplement form while you are away.
- Take a photo of supplement labels if you need a reminder for directions of use.
- Consider investing in a compact supplement case for easy organization of your supplements for each day you're away. Bringing a small container/pouch to fit in a backpack allows for easy access when you’re out and about touring for the day.
